Main Street Economic Revitalization Program

Braham Business Owners,

The City of Braham has been allocated $96,000 in funding to eligible projects.

Here is a list of activities which are eligible for new expenses occurring within your designated Downtown Revitalization corridors (https://mn.gov/deed/business/financing-business/deed-programs/economic-revitalization/):

Leverage grants can be used by eligible recipients for the following:

      • Repair, or renovation of real property
      • Building construction
      • Landscaping and streetscaping
      • Demolition and site preparation
      • Predesign and design
      • Engineering
      • Infrastructure
      • Related site amenities

Eligible project expenses do not include the purchase of real estate or business operations or business operating expenses, such as inventory, wages, or working capital.

One of the leaders at the MN Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) once joked that “if you can pick a building up and shake it…stuff that falls out would not be eligible, but stuff that stays is.”  While this is factitious, it actually helps – HVAC = yes, bar stools and tables = no.  If you have a question we can help you navigate, and if we’re stumped we can take it straight to DEED.

Note that this is a reimbursement program; grantees will submit their paid receipts for eligible expenses and will receive back a check for upto 30% of total costs.

All applications need to be emailed to kstahl@brahammn.gov, or delivered to City Hall at: City of Braham  PO Box 521 Braham, MN 55006 by the deadline.

Note: All qualified applications will be considered, all potential conflicts of interest will be disclosed and addressed. All applications must be received by May 30th at 1:00pm to be considered.

All construction (or other eligible activity) must be complete by May 31, 2026 with all records (receipts) submitted by that date to be reimbursed. That means shovel ready projects with secured financing will be a priority.

All grantees should follow state procurement standards, which is to say that job that falls in the range of $10,000 to $24,999 should secure at least two quotes, and those between $25,000 and $96,000 should have three bids or quotes.  Our grantees do NOT need to select the low bid, but should create a written record (email is fine) of why they selected the vendor or contractor that they did (more experience, better timeline for completion, recommendations from past clients, etc.).

All applications need to be emailed to kstahl@brahammn.gov, or delivered to City Hall at: City of Braham  PO Box 521 Braham, MN 55006 by 1:00pm on May 30, 2025.

Applications are available on this website or by emailing kstahl@brahammn.gov.
