The City and water & sewer contractor PeopleService, continue to work on an effective chemical treatment solution to address copper solubility as water moves from service lines to inside our buildings.
As the water infrastructure upgrades take place, it should help with the random discoloration issues people see from the old iron pipes. The copper however, gets absorbed from the copper piping inside our homes or commercial buildings. PeopleService is committed finding the right chemical solution that goes into the water at the treatment plant as it is pumped out of the ground, that will reduce the copper leeching but also not replace the copper leeching problem with a too much chemical problem.
They will potentially be moving the water source from well 1 to another well as we rehabilitate well 2 and expand capacity. This could happen if the other well is found to have cleaner groundwater at the source.
