Running for City Council
Have you ever thought of becoming a City Councilmember? Councilmembers are the legislative body for the City and set the City’s mission, vision, and values. The Council adopts ordinances, approves development, and sets the City’s budget, long range capital plan, and annual levy (taxes) while City staff manage the day to day activities of the City along with policy and ordinance implementation.
City Councilmembers are elected by the residents of Braham.
Qualifications to serve are:

Eligible to vote in Minnesota;

You have not filed for the same or any other office at the upcoming primary or general election;

You are, or will be on assuming office, 21 years of age or more; and
-
You have maintained residence in this district for at least 30 days before the general election.

You meet any other qualifications for this office as prescribed by law.
Filing opens on July 30, 2024 at 8 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. on August 13, 2022. The filing fee is $2.00 (payable in cash or check). Affidavits of Candidacy are available at Braham City Hall, 201 Broadway Ave. S. City Hall is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays. City Hall will remain open until 5 p.m. on August 13, 2022.
Offices up for election this November are Mayor (2 year term) and two Councilmember seats (4 year terms).
