GUN PERMITS

If you reside within the city limits of Braham, you will apply for your Permit to Purchase with the Braham Police Department. Residents with a Braham address but reside outside the city limits must apply at the Sheriff’s office within the county you reside.

Applicants must:

Be at least 21 years of age to purchase a handgun and 18 years of age to purchase a military style assault rifle.
Permit to Purchase applications can be submitted in person by the applicant. Applicants must present a current Minnesota driver’s license, state issued ID or Passport (or a legible colored photocopy). Applications can also be mailed and must include a current copy of a Minnesota driver’s license, state issued ID or Passport. Copies must be in color.
Application approval may take up to 30 days. If your application is approved, your card will be mailed directly to your home address. If you are denied, you will receive a letter stating why.

Note to Firearms Permit Applicants and Issuing Agencies: The law regarding extreme risk protection orders (ERPO) becomes effective Jan. 1, 2024. The subject of an ERPO is prohibited from possessing firearms. As a result, the BCA will update both the Permit to Carry and Permit to Purchase/Transfer forms on Jan. 1 to reflect this change in the law.
